I'm also interested as to whether you can check-out the kit and then return it to another hotel. My family have only one night in Old Faithful Inn and aren't keen to double-back to return the science kit. I'm a science teacher so I think it looks like an amazing learning opportunity for my son.

Nothing beats kids getting the opportunity to experience science out in the 'real-world'. I just wish my family weren't constrained by time. I think the young scientist toolkit (age 5-7) is only from visitor center.

I saw kids with them & it appeared were using infrared thermometers to record tem peratures. After usage, the toolkit is returned to the Old Faithful visitor center. The self-guided booklets (leveled for several age groups) can be purchased at Canyon visitor center or OF visitor center for $5.
